Would you like a unique experience for your next gathering, birthday party, or team-building activity? Try a Chics with Tools Workshop, a non-threatening, no-judgment environment where participants can have hands-on experiences with tools and leave with finished projects.
Private Events
When we do not have a scheduled Chics With Tools Workshop, we are always open to hosting private events, which work similarly. Just gather a group totaling five and we will do whatever project you would like when it is convenient for you. Options include woodworking, home decor projects, sewing, barn quilts, and cake decorating. You will be provided with all materials and instructions to complete a project in one three-hour session. Feel free to bring your own snacks and beverages to sustain you while you bond with old friends and new ones while creating beautiful things for your home. Reach out for more information.

Cake & Cupcake Decorating
In this workshop, which can be geared for any age, you will learn baking tips, cake leveling, crumb coating, smooth finishing and basic piping techniques. Take home a finished cake. If you’d prefer cupcakes, you will learn six different types of cupcake designs and take-home recipes and a dozen cupcakes. Cake decorating kits are available for purchase.

In this workshop, kids can learn simple acrylic painting, including transfer technique, color mixing and paintbrush skills. Adults can learn all the same skills for impressionistic acrylic painting, as well as shading techniques. Take home a completed work of art.

Wooden Signs
In this adults-only workshop, participants choose from a selection of messages and motifs for their wooden sign. Learn sanding, staining, distressing, stenciling and dry brushing. Take home a completed sign.

In this adults-only workshop, participants choose from a selection of sizes, patterns and colors for their wooden barn quilt. Learn masking, hard-edge painting and how to attach hanging hardware. Take home a stunning piece that will be framed and ready to hang.

Sewing
For ages 8 and up, our sewing workshops include embellished throw pillows, patchwork table runners, pillowcases and aprons. Students must provide their own sewing machine. Depending on the project, learn to sew on a button, basic hand stitching, applique, simple embroidery, envelope cover technique, straight machine sewing, pressing, backing, trimming, hemming and embellishment.

For ages 8 and up, our seasonal decor workshops include burlap wreath-making and outdoor painted wood decor. For wreaths, learn how to make embellishments from ordinary objects and how to make designer bows. Go home with a completed, seasonal wreath, ready to hang. For wood decor, learn how to make painted items for any season, from Easter egg topiaries to Santa’s and nutcrackers. Learn painting techniques and color mixing.

Woodworking
Make centerpieces, bookshelves, boxes, picture frames and trays. Skills learned include how to use a drill press, miter saw, jigsaw, nail gun and sander. You will also practice sanding and get painting tips.
