Known as the City of Homes, Newnan, Georgia is a sweet town, located just 30 minutes south of the Atlanta Airport. This hidden gem is the Coweta County seat and is deceptive in what it has to offer. If you drive into the heart of Newnan, you find a quaint yet vibrant center with restaurants, boutiques, and beautiful historic homes, a carryover from the mid-1880’s where it was touted as being the third wealthiest city per capita in the United States. The movie industry discovered this spot years ago and it has been featured in a long list of films and television productions ever since. The organization, Mainstreet Newnan, hosts regular events, such as the Fall Art Walk, Oktoberfest, and Market Days. But downtown is not all to this city by any means.
If you want a connection between historic charm and modern amenities, ride the weekend City of Newnan Trolley to Ashley Park where you will discover a beautiful outdoor mall with a wide variety of department stores, boutiques, restaurants, and a huge movie theater. Even if you have no shopping to do, it is a lovely place to just enjoy the gardens and people watch.
Another great aspect of this city of around 33, 000 people is LINC, a series of bike and foot trails allowing pedestrians to explore different neighborhoods and districts.
In addition to the city itself, Newnan is surrounded by horse farms and is close to outdoor adventure opportunities such as fishing, ziplining, kayaking, mountain biking, and hiking. But if the arts are more to your liking, check out the local live music and theater options in the area, as well as guest performers ranging from classical groups to comedians. It’s also fun to see what is filming locally and watch the action. Of course, let’s not forget that there are many great restaurant options that run the gamut from foodie havens to down-home dining. So, no matter what feeds your soul, you will find something that will speak to you in our sweet little town. We love Newnan, Georgia and we hope you do too!
